Fraction operation rules
For addition and subtraction, use a common denominator before combining numerators. For multiplication, multiply straight across. For division, multiply the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second.
a/b + c/d = (a × d + c × b) / (b × d)
Every result is reduced using the greatest common factor so the final fraction is in lowest terms.
